I have been involved in real estate for more than 35 years. As a broker, I owned both commercial and residential real estate companies for more than 25 years. I was first introduced to the fractional concept at Killington, Vt., in the early 1990s. I joined a sales team being assembled to sell quarter fractions at the new Killington Grand Hotel. Even though the concept was new back then, the project was a huge success and I was hooked on a new real estate concept.

Over the past 15 years, I have worked and consulted for the very best in the fractional industry, including the American Skiing Co., Intrawest, and Ritz Carlton Club, as well as many independent developers. As the industry flourished, I recognized a need for a website listing all of the fractionals in the world so that consumers could view their locations and compare their amenities. I founded LuxuryFractionalGuide.com in 2004 to fulfill that need.

My website became the catalyst that inspired me to write this book. Nearly every day I receive letters from vacation home owners asking how they might get started turning their home into a fractional property to maximize their return on investment. So this book was born with the specific goal of helping the "individual" do this right. While it is not rocket science, there are many pitfalls and there actually IS a method to this madness.
